Alexander Allfrey helped Andrew Robson in the early days of the Andrew Robson Bridge Club. He now lives with his wife and four children in Dorset, where he works as a Psychodynamic Counsellor. He has won most of the main domestic competitions several times. He had a great year in 2016 when he won the Premier League, the Spring Fours and the Brighton Swiss Pairs and (jointly with Andrew) the EBU’s Player of the Year championship. His team also won the Spring Fours and Premier League again in 2017. He has played in the World Olympiad in 2012 and the Bermuda Bowl in 2013. See Alexander’s EBU profile.
David Gold is a bridge professional and one of very few players to have played for the England Open Team while still a junior. He started his career in the sports world as a top junior chess player going on to learn bridge at school aged about 16. He and Tom Townsend were one of England’s leading pairs for 10 years. Their best result was in Beijing, 2008 where England won the silver medal in the mind sports games.
David has since formed partnerships with Tony Forrester and David Bakhshi and has represented England with them many times in the European Championships (winning a bronze medal in 2014), Bermuda Bowl (finishing 4th in 2015 after two extremely narrow defeats in the semi-final and bronze medal play-off), and World Olympiad. His most recent international partner is Mike Bell, and they have played together in the 2016 and 2017 Camrose Trophy.
David has numerous domestic titles on his bridge CV, including victory in the Gold Cup three times, Premier League five times, and the 2016 Spring Foursomes. He was the winner of the inaugural Player of the Year Championship for the 2014/15 season. See David’s EBU profile.
Tony Forrester is a British and English international and a world international master. He won the European Youth Team Championship in 1978. The Forrester-Robson partnership won the European Team Championship in 1991, were the first Britons to win one of the US majors (the Reisinger in 1998 and 1999) and played together for the recent European and World successes.
Tony holds the all-time record for England Camrose appearances (44) and Gold Cup wins (13). He is also a bridge columnist for The Daily Telegraph (since 1993) and The Sunday Telegraph. He was an inaugural recipient of the EBU’s Diamond Award in 2015. See Tony’s EBU profile.

He has also enjoyed major international success including the European gold in 1991 and bronze in 2014, and fourth in the 2015 Bermuda Bowl. Andrew and Alexander were joint winners of the EBU’s Player of the Year in 2016.
Playing is only part of Andrew’s life in bridge – he writes daily for The Times and weekly for Country Life and Money Week. He runs the famous Andrew Robson Bridge Club in South West London where he teaches. He also travels the country teaching charity bridge days and master classes.
