Andrew Dyson has worked in several senior positions in the investment management industry for nearly 40 years including 3 US stints. He now works part-time from London and currently serves as chair of Climate Asset Management, and a Director of New Change FX and of Adjuvo Network Limited, all more specialist asset management businesses. Before work and family took over, Andrew played very bridge very seriously in the late 80s and early 90s including 2 Gold Cup and 2 Spring Foursomes wins, and representing Great Britain the 1995 European Championships, all bar one in conjunction with his Lederer partner Glyn Liggins. Returning to the UK and only working part-time has allowed Andrew to rekindle his passion for high level bridge again over the last 2 years. After several near misses since then, he is hoping to finally make the winners circle this weekend!
Ben Handley-Pritchard (aka BHP) first played the Lederer in 2001 representing England Juniors where he famously won the Best Played Hand award. He now lives in Croatia with his wife but has rejoined the English bridge scene, representing the Open Team at the 2022 and 2024 European Championships. Ben is widely considered the best Barbu player of all time.
Glyn Liggins is a bridge pro living in Queens Park with his wife Sarah. He has represented his country in each of the last five decades, beginning as a junior player partnering Andrew Robson.
Glyn and Andrew started playing in 1989, immediately winning the Camrose trials and getting a first England cap. Subsequently, they won the Gold Cup, Spring 4s back-to-back, and the Schiphol tournament.
During Andrew’s sabbatical, Glyn achieved success with various different partners, notably fourth in the Olympiad in Maastricht 2000 partnering Joe Fawcett. Since Andrew’s return, the partnership has mainly played in the US, but did come second in Spring 4s 2023.
Tom Townsend, 54, lives in Shepherd’s Bush with Ewa Kater, their 15-year-old son Max, and their Labrador Gotham. Tom plays professionally and is Daily and Sunday Telegraph bridge columnist. He and BHP came third in the 2023 Transnational World championships in Marrakech, second in the Blue Ribbon Pairs in Atlanta, and have won the last two EBU Open pairs trials. See Tom’s EBU page.
